Researchers at the University of Waterloo's Institute for Quantum Computing, including Michal Bajcsy, showed photon subtraction from light pulses using a solid-state quantum emitter coupled to a chiral optical waveguide, where a photon's spin sets its travel direction. The module needs only a single laser as input and could make non-classical light for communication and sensing more efficient. The paper is in npj Quantum Information; experimental proof-of-principle work is underway.
Canadian research result on integrated quantum photonics; good fit next to QuantumCore and the Xanadu manufacturing thread.
