Quantum systems never quite forget where they came from

Researchers from Tampere University, Harvard and TU Dresden found that even chaotic quantum systems retain a lasting imprint of their initial state, broadening the idea of quantum scarring. In their stadium-shaped model, the system stayed at least twice as likely, on long-term average, to return to its starting state.
