A Multiplexed Quantum Photonic Interface for Neutral-Atom Quantum Computers

A sourced note from the 6 October 2026 morning scan. The figure of record is the original report, not this page.

Researchers led by Takashi Yamamoto at the University of Osaka, with NICT and Hamamatsu Photonics, collected and detected photons from individual atoms in a neutral-atom array through ten parallel waveguide channels, published in Optica. They report low crosstalk, atom-photon correlations, and a path to roughly 100 channels. (Surfaced again in trade coverage on 6 October 2026.)

Why it matters

Getting photons out of atom arrays in parallel is a bottleneck for linking processors into modular, networked machines.
