Infineon and ZuriQ deepen partnership to advance scalable quantum computing hardware

A sourced note from the 7 October 2026 morning scan. The figure of record is the original report, not this page.

Infineon and ETH Zurich spin-out ZuriQ are expanding their collaboration, pairing ZuriQ's trapped-ion architecture with Infineon's semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging and integrated photonics. Earlier joint work trapped a 3×3 array of nine individually controlled ions, which they call the largest 2D array of its kind; the next step is significantly larger qubit counts.

Why it matters

Another "quantum meets commercial fab" story, pairing well with the prior day's Xanadu/GlobalFoundries lead.
